Slieve Foye Woods

This Coillte Forest Recreation Area lies at the bottom of Slieve Foye mountain, the dominant summit of the Cooley mountains, from which it takes it's name. There are spectacular panoramic views of the Mourne mountains and Carlingford Lough to be enjoyed from the upper car park.
According to legend, Fionn Mac Cumhaill hurled the Cloghmore Stone (a forty ton glacial boulder) from the slopes of Slieve Foye in a running battle with a neighbouring giant in the Mourne mountains.
Visit Website for up-to-date information, directions and to download a trail map.
Facilities: There are two car parks in the forest with picnic areas.
