The Oriel Centre, based in Dundalk Gaol, is a regional centre under the auspices of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann. The centre combines the role of a resource centre, a visitor attraction, a social and a performance space and provides facilities for teaching, archives, recording, rehearsal, performance and session playing.


Live Music Events

This unique venue offers an exhibition space, ideal for intimate performances. Boasting a truly clear acoustic, the centre presents a varied calendar of live-music events and their Oriel Bar is a popular destination for a pre-concert or interval drink.


History & Archive

There is also an opportunity to explore the history of the Gaol and /or the region’s cultural legacy with interactive audio - visual displays. As a Comhaltas Regional Centre the Oriel Centre links directly to the National Comhaltas Archive, with complete access available to all the centre’s users. A valuable resource to students, teachers and researchers of traditional music and culture, their Archivist is on hand to guide you in your research.
