Gyles Quay Beach & Harbour

Gyles Quay, Dundalk, County Louth

Gyles' Quay, a harbour and stretch of beach, is located on the beautiful Cooley Peninsula, approximately 18 km south of Dundalk. The area is steeped in history and tradition. It was named after Ross Gyles, who built a wooden structure there in 1780, and the harbour has been a gathering place for generations since then.


This peaceful haven, at the foot of the Cooley Mountains, is perfect for walkers and those looking to slow down and enjoy panoramic views of Dundalk Bay.


Keep your eyes peeled for Black Guillemot birds nesting in the unique tunnels built into the harbour wall. Their fascinating nesting habits are a testament to the area's rich natural heritage.


There is also a caravan park located here, beautifully positioned overlooking the bay, offering touring pitches and Glamping Pods, as well as leisure options such as a games room, bar and restaurant.
