Grianstad 2025 - Dedicated to Manchán Magan Start Date Sunday 21 December 2025 End Date Co. Louth, Ireland +353 41 983 3946 VISIT WEBSITE Sunday, December 21st, winter solstice sunset, everywhere. Dedicated to Manchán Magan. Grianstad is an immersive audio experience timed to the sun setting on the winter solstice. Designed as a collective experience for listeners all around the country and beyond, audiences are encouraged to use headphones to journey outdoors towards the sunset, and to take in the light. Grianstad–the Irish word for ‘sun stop’ or solstice–invites audiences to take a moment to reflect, to gather with friends or experience solo, and mark the closing of the shortest day of the year as the light fades. This moment of transition signals to us that brighter times are on the way. Originally presented in 2022, this special adaptation of Grianstad is dedicated to Manchán Magan. Manchán inspired so many people around the world to engage more deeply with land and language, the natural world, and the interconnectedness and ancestry that generates and underpins us all. Created by Una Mullally, with sound design by Jane Arnison, presented by THISISPOPBABY and supported by 14 arts venues around the country, Grianstad is mixed in Dolby Atmos by Jane Arnison and features Colm Mac Con Iomaire, MayKay, Ben Castle, Adam Matthews and Julie Fogarty. 🎟️Grianstad is free but ticketed, with a suggested donation of €10 for Hometree–a tree planting charity that Manchán was a trustee of. Once registered, audiences will receive an email on 21 December with a link to the piece and instructions. Visit Website to register. - Christmas Toy Exhibition at County Museum Dundalk | Visit Louth | 2 Dec - 5 Jan | Visit Louth
Christmas Toy Exhibition at County Museum Dundalk Start Date Monday 2 December 2024 End Date Monday 5 January 2026 County Museum, Townparks, Dundalk, Co. Louth, A91 EFY9, Ireland +353 42 93 92 999 VISIT WEBSITE With Christmas just around the corner, the County Museum, Dundalk, is inviting visitors to step into a world of festive nostalgia with its new exhibition, ‘ From the Collection - A Christmas Special’. Featuring a beautiful selection of toys from the past hundred years, including board games from the 1930s, a wooden train, dolls, prams, computer games, an ET doll and even a couple of Transformers, the exhibition will bring back happy memories of Christmas Past! As part of the exhibition, visitors are invited to share a festive memory by jotting down on a Post-it note the toy they longed for from Santa - whether it arrived or stayed a wish. These notes will form a colourful collage of childhood hopes and Christmas dreams, adding a personal touch to the display. Brian Walsh, Curator of the County Museum, said: “This exhibition gives people an opportunity to take a few steps away from the frenzy of the Christmas build-up and rediscover the magic of simpler times. “All of the toys have been collected by the Museum over the past 30 years. Some of them are handmade, others are shop bought, but all of them have a story behind them, and that is something that we love about each artefact! In many ways, the exhibition is at the heart of what we do, collecting items from the past for the enjoyment of future generations, be they young or old.” ‘From the Collection - A Christmas Special’ will run throughout December and into January. Admission to both the exhibition and the County Museum is free. Whether you’re looking to relive the joy of Christmas past or simply soak up some seasonal nostalgia, this exhibition is the perfect festive outing. How to find us Next Item Previous Item
