The Oriel Centre, based in Dundalk Gaol, is one of eight regional resource centres under the auspices of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann www.comhaltas.ie servicing the five north eastern counties of Cavan, Monaghan, Louth, Meath and Armagh.  The Oriel Centre combines the role of a resource centre, a visitor attraction, a social and a performance space and provides facilities for teaching, archives, recording, rehearsal, performance and session playing.

Our unique venue offers a large exhibition space, ideal for intimate performances. The main hall features fully adjustable, state of the art, sound and lighting equipment suitable for many performance types. Boasting a truly clear acoustic, Dundalk Gaol offers an alternative recording venue for live performances.  The Oriel Bar is fully operable under a Theatre Licence and is a popular destination for a pre-concert or interval drink.  Check out whats on here.

We also provide an opportunity to explore the history of the Gaol and /or the region’s cultural legacy with interactive audio - visual displays.

As a Comhaltas Regional Centre the Oriel Centre links directly to the National Comhaltas Archive with complete access available to all the our centre’s users.
